Virtues

Hey everyone! Sorry again for my delayed posts, I keep making y'all broken promises! I've pretty much had the week from HELL so please forgive me for not posting earlier! Let me just start out by saying that online classes SUCK, especially if you're taking math online. Math has never been my strong suit, but taking it online it's like teaching yourself! Though I am blessed to have such a great teacher who will answer all ten of my emails (that I sent within the hour). Poor lady! I loaded up on classes this semester, I am taking five in total. Today my week 3 ethics assignment was due, our lesson was on Virtue Ethics. Now let me just backtrack and explain why I am even mentioning this to you. I had THE WORST morning ever today. Only one more month until I move on base with R in Hawaii so we are getting very stressed/excited/anxious/every emotion you can possibly think of! R has been doing absolutely everything that he can to ease my nerves and make this last month go very smoothly. His ex, well that's a whole different story. A while back while R was overseas I sent him some private photographs, yes you know where this is going now. This morning at 4 a.m. my time, approx. midnight R's time, I get a frantic phone call. Turns out his ex hacked into his email and posted my pictures onto her Pinterest account. Needless to say I am now going tomorrow morning to my local Police Department to place harassment charges against her. This isn't her first offense, she's harassed me since September through email and Pinterest. Facebook is the only place she can't get to me because I have her blocked as well as every privacy setting I can possibly have on there. But after this morning I've decided that this is the last straw and I will not let her get away with this anymore. Although I feel foolish and embarrassed, I feel very sorry for her. She obviously has some very severe insecurity issues to do what she is doing. Now back to my lesson on Virtue Ethics today, in my reading I learned about Aristotle, Confucius, and some modern day philosophers. Benjamin Franklin was included in the modern day philosophers and I'd love to share his Thirteen Virtues with you guys! It is stated in the text book that Ben Franklin planned to make a habit out of each of the thirteen virtues by focusing on one at a time until he mastered it. They say that on average it takes about 21 days to create a habit. After what I experienced today and my lesson on virtues, I decided that I'm going to challenge myself to be a better person and to make my own list of virtues to master! I will share with you my own list and I'd love to hear your own lists of virtues and their meanings to you!
